Data Deletion
Last updated: October 2026
You can delete your Jotivo account and the personal data associated with it directly in the app, without contacting support. You can also delete individual lists and items and keep your account. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and what we keep afterwards.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Jotivo and tap the person icon to open Profile.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen to open Account.
- Tap Delete account and enter your password. If your account has no password because you only sign in with Google or Facebook, type Delete my account instead. Then confirm.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes the following data from our active systems:
- your account information: name and email address
- all lists you own and their items, including for the people you've shared them with
- your personal dictionary, custom categories and suggestion history
- your access to lists other people have shared with you
- your subscription status and your devices' notification tokens
The deletion happens immediately. Copies in our backups are deleted within 7 days. Our Privacy Policy lists how long we keep each kind of data.
What we keep
- Items you added to other people's lists. Items you added, changed or checked off in a list someone else owns stay in that list, because they're part of the owner's list. They're no longer linked to your account.
- Usage analytics. Analytics data in PostHog is anonymous: it isn't linked to you or your account, so it can't be picked out and deleted when you delete your account. PostHog keeps it for at least one year.
- Backups. Our database is backed up daily, and deleted data remains in those backups for up to 7 days. Backups are only used to restore the service after a failure.
- Service provider logs. Some service providers keep technical logs under their own retention policies. For example, Supabase keeps sign-in logs for 7 days, and our email provider, Resend, keeps records of the emails we've sent you under its retention policy.
- Abuse-prevention records. IP addresses and invitation attempts we log to prevent abuse are kept for up to 24 hours, then deleted automatically.
Delete data without deleting your account
- Lists: open the list's menu (⋮) and tap Move to trash. Lists in the trash are deleted automatically after 30 days, or after 365 days with a Premium subscription. To delete one sooner, open the trash with the trash icon at the top of the Lists screen and tap the trash icon next to the list. To delete them all, choose Empty trash from the trash's menu (⋮).
- Items: items you delete from a list are removed right away. They don't go to the trash. Their names stay in your suggestion history until you delete your account. Email us if you'd like it cleared sooner.
- Lists shared with you: open the list's menu and tap Leave list. Items you added stay in the owner's list.
- Personal dictionary and custom categories: remove entries under Profile → Settings → Personal dictionary or Custom categories. Editing custom categories needs Premium. If your Premium has ended, email us and we'll delete them.
- Anything else: email support@jotivo.app from the address on your account and tell us what to delete. We'll confirm once it's done.
